Let's just say today was hot... and I've got the start of a sinus infection. Erika & I went to Star Wars weekend at Disney's MGM Studios today. Before we got in the door, I bought a framed picture of the new Star Wars stamps from a mobile post office at the front gates. I'm happy with it... I might get it framed. We walked down Hollywood Blvd... people were lined up on both sides of the street... didn't know what was happening, figured it was a Star Wars themed parade. We caught it down in front of the hat -- was a very good view point. Erika snapped this photo of Mickey.

It was too hot to do much more. We walked around for a little bit longer before tiring from the heat. Grabbed some lunch, but was still too hot to do much more, so we packed it in early & went home to the AC. Might try to go again if next weekend is cooler. Can't do it the following weekend; we're suppose to be in Chicago for Brickworld. :)

Birthday Cake

Went to Roy's last night with my wife. Had a delicious fish dinner. Since we celebrated my birthday, the menu was printed up for the occasion. Each course was tasty. And for dessert... well you see what was left of it... It's suppose to say happy birthday in Hawaiian. :)

Pickle Snack Paks!

Erika & I were walking through Publix the other night, grabbing a few things for a family cookout on Sunday, when I spot the Pickle Snack Pak... Now part of me thinks this is such a cool idea -- they do it with fruit, why not pickles. But then my wife looked at it & was disgusted with the whole idea. Don't get me wrong, she likes pickles, but not enough to want them in a snack pak. I can see this packaging idea with microwavable beans, baked beans, pickled onions... So many endless snack pak ideas, the more disgusting the better... pickled pig's feet... :)

DC: The New Frontier, Vol. 2

I picked this up yesterday at the comic shop as well. Finished reading it tonight. The first volume took me a few days to flip through; this one only took a few hours. I'm a long time DC fan, but even there were some character references that threw me. King Faraday for instance... just looked him up on Wikipedia. I loved the reference, but didn't know how he fit into the DC universe. Excellent book... I kept waiting for Hal Jordan to met the crashed alien & to gain the ring... been waiting for it to happen with the first volume. It paid off for me. The artwork is great & the story was great. Well worth the read. My rating: A

Zombieworld: Champion Of The Worms (Zombieworld)

Just read this at lunch. Picked it up from the comic shop I blogged about earlier. It's a nice read, the jumping point into Mignola's Zombie World project... the origin story, if you will. The artwork is good; a little too cutesy for me. I really like Mignola's Kirby-esque artwork. And the dialog was a little too cutesy, the bad-guy didn't see evil enough to make the overall story convincing for me. But overall: B+

Mmm.... Pie!

Went to the Great American Pie Festival last weekend with my wife, Erika. We also walked around the Exotic Car Show that was going on in downtown Celebration, FL. Both events were fun to attend.

Before moving down from Ohio, we have known about the festival from the Food Network... She's been wanting to go since we first learned about it. Erika loves to bake cheesecakes, so pies shouldn't be too hard to pull off. She needs to talk to her aunt to get the family pie recipe... don't know if she'll win, but it would be fun trying. And Erika can be creative, so between the two of us, we might be able to come up with some cool ideas.
